Project SHIFT

Saturday, September 26, 2009; Project SHIFT hosted a Red Carpet Fundraising event to benefit the women and children of Visual Impact Now and Community’s Child with housing health and eye care, which was sponsored by Toyota Financial Services and South Bay Aesthetics.

Project SHIFT, hosted at ‘Daves Garage’ Event Center in Torrance featured the Dave Parker vintage car collection which included many cars from Jay Leno’s private car collection. The event also featured live music from “27 Miles” with Kurt Custer formally of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hopes Song runway show, as well as “Gallery of Dreams” silent and live auction including rare Beatles and Rolling Stones signed memorabilia.

Proceeds from Project SHIFT benefited the homeless and low-income women and children of Community’s Child and their new health care program, including eye care through Visual Impact Now. Funding will support safe housing in a structured environment where these women and children will obtain eye exams and eyewear, education, skills and training. Most importantly though, they will receive the personal support necessary to break the patterns associated with poverty and move forward toward self sufficiency.
