Witness the Human Spirit on Full Display at the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games Invitational

Witness the human spirit on full display as more than 1,100 Southern California athletes and 166 athletes from 14 countries compete at the Summer Games Invitational. Don’t miss this inspiring competition from June 6 – 8 at USC. Spectators can cheer for athletes as they compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals and ribbons in six sports. The Games are free and open to the public and will feature a festival, music, games, free health screenings for Special Olympics athletes, a Young Athletes Program demo, and much more.   • FREE and open to the public–more than 3,000 volunteers and 10,000 local dignitaries, sponsors and spectators expected to attend!
  • Competitions include aquatics, track & field, basketball, bocce, golf, and gymnastics
  • More than 1,500 athletes and 300 coaches travel from all over Southern California and more than 230 athletes from 14 countries around the world
  • The Summer Games Invitational is the first of two Southern California championships held every year

  • Opening Ceremony: 10:00 am at Loker Stadium
  • Breakfast with Champions: Saturday – 9am Town & Gown (tickets required)
  • Divisioning & Competitions: Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Closing Ceremony: 3pm at the Festival in Alumni Park
  • Award Ceremonies at all sports venues (times vary by sport)


  • Special Olympics Festival features games, live entertainment, community and law enforcement exhibits, and more
  • Healthy Athlete Village offers free health screenings for athletes
  • Rafer’s Boutique offers Special Olympics souvenirs and merchandise
  • Family Pavilion gives families an opportunity to meet and greet in between competitions

Special Olympics Southern California offers year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. More than 15,000 athletes in 11 Southern California counties train and compete in 12 Olympic-type summer and fall sports. There is no cost for athletes to participate in Special Olympics.
