American Friends of Magen David Adom will proudly celebrate the second annual Red Star Ball on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
Hosted by Jay Leno, the event will feature a special musical performance by legendary singer, Paul Anka. The night will honor Magen David Adom’s wartime medics and recognize David Wiener with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Bill Dorfman with the Humanitarian of the Year Award, and Gina Edwards with the Next Generation Award. Proceeds from the Red Star Ball will go towards building Magen David Adom’s new national blood center, a facility that will protect Israel’s entire blood supply from terror attacks and natural disasters while continuing to provide 97% of the blood used by Israel’s hospitals and all the blood for the Israel Defense Forces.
Magen David Adom (MDA) provides a rapid and skilled emergency medical response, including disaster, ambulance, and blood services, to Israel’s 8 million people. MDA is the only organization mandated by the Israeli government to serve in this role, but is not funded by the government. Instead, MDA relies on funding from donors around the world. American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) is the largest supporter of MDA worldwide. For more information please visit www.afmda.org.
